In a bid to improve the living conditions of inmates and support prison reform initiatives and support prison reform initiatives, the Chief Ime Johnson Memorial Foundation has donated a substantial quantity of high quality roofing materials to the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
The donation which took place at the custodial center on Saturday 6th June 2026, is aimed at the rehabilitating damaged and dilapidated roofs within the facility, ensuring a safer and more humane environment for the inmates.

Presenting the materials on behalf of the foundation, the spokesperson "Mr. Idorenyin Fidelis" highlighted that the gesture was conceived to keep the legacy of the late Chief Ime Johnson alive. Known during his lifetime as a compassionate community leader and philanthropist, Chief Johnson dedicated much of his life to uplifting the vulnerable and marginalized members of society.
"Chief Ime Johnson believed that every human being, regardless of their circumstances or past mistakes, deserves to be treated with dignity," the spokesperson stated during the handover. "We observed that the female prison block was suffering from severe leaks, especially during the rainy season. This donation of roofing sheets, and building accessories is our way of partnering with the government to ensure the welfare of the inmates is prioritized."


Receiving the materials on behalf of the Nigerian Correctional Service, the Officer-in-Charge of the custodial center expressed deep gratitude to the foundation. He noted that infrastructural maintenance is a constant challenge for correctional facilities across the country, making private and non-governmental interventions highly crucial.
"This intervention is incredibly timely," the Officer-in-Charge remarked. "Leaking roofs not only disrupt the comfort of the inmates but also pose security and health hazards. By helping us rebuild these structures, the Chief Ime Johnson Memorial Foundation is directly contributing to the mental and physical well-being of the inmates under our care. It makes our job of reformation and rehabilitation much easier."
The correctional leadership praised the foundation’s selflessness and urged other corporate organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and well-meaning Nigerians to emulate this gesture.
